Ingredients
Make 1/2 recipe of Caramel Thumbprints dough, omitting the almond butter and almond extract.
Directions
Form 1/2 teaspoonful balls from the dough and roll them in 1/2 cup turbinado sugar rather than sliced crushed almonds. Bake as directed, reducing the total baking time to 8 minutes (two 4-minute intervals). Instead of caramel, fill the cooled cookies with 1/2 cup strained currant preserves.

thumbprints are SO good. You can put anything in those.
